Can I quit my part time job and still collect unemployment benefits?

I got a part-time job working 4-15 hours a week, but I want to quit because of the physical requirements. My unemployment starts up again this week and I would have to report 5 hours for the prior week to reduce the amount received from unemployment.

You need to speak with the unemplyment office about that. If someone on here were to tell you that you could quit, and you did, and then you stopped getting unemploymet because of it you would be screwed. Just talk to someone at the office to be sure.

It depends on the law of your particular state. In Texas, whether you are eligible for unemployment after you voluntarily quit a job depends on the reason you quit. For example, you can get unemployment if you quit to take care of a sick relative, but not because you didn’t like the job. If there are physical reasons that make this job hard for you, your state may recognize that as a legitimate reason to quit. You’ll need to talk to your unemployment office about this before accepting any more payments.

It depends on your current situation, job status, qualification.. I heard that it differs slightly per eash state. I hink the best way is to call the unemployment office and find out exactly what the specific would be…
