always wonder if cops take there work home or just a different person when there home I hope you understand what I mean.lol?
That really depends on the officer and the type of work that officer does. Some officers are better at "leaving it at the office." Detectives are much more likely to spend time at home thinking about a difficult case than a traffic officer is to spend time thinking about a ticket he wrote. Then again, traffic officers often work accidents with very serious, sometimes fatal, injuries, and that can stay with you a long time.
As for the general demeanor when not working, it still depends on the officer. Some officers are the same both places, some are different. Usually, though, officers have an emotional shield up at work due to the ever present possibility of danger and the general verbal abuse. At home, they let that shield drop, because they are with their loved ones in a "safe" environment.
Personally, I do think about my cases sometimes when I’m at home, but I usually try my best to put them out of my mind so I can just enjoy the time with family and friends. Also, I’m a pretty laid back person at home and tend to just go with the flow, but at work I usually have more of a take charge attitude to make sure things are done right, so I don’t lose my case in court.

well that is a funny question..my boyfriend is a cop and he is a real prick most of the time. At least when I am being bad I can get a ticket, go to court and give my side of the story, but not at home!! Sometimes he is very lovable, but when you deal with crack heads and crazy people all day every day, and you see stuff that cops see that we don’t I can understand why he comes home with an attitude!!

I do my best not to. I can’t talk about my work anyway so I see no need to bring it home. If something’s bugging me, my family is intune with me enough to just give me some space and let me work it out by myself.

We’d like to be different when we come home, but unfortuantely some of us have that built in mechanism, to investigate, and analyze almost every situation. Like when your kids lie about eating and leaving a mess in the kitchen. And you ask who did it, they both deny it. But yet there are crumbs near their seat or they have a jelly mustache, or peanut butter lipstick, you ask your girfriend did you pay the bills, and you go down to get on line, and it won’t work, due to non-payment of services. If you do have time for yourself you get yelled at for not spending time with the family, there is no peace at home usually unless you are a single cop. You let your girlfriend borrow your truck, she swears up and down she wasn’t speeding, but her past record shows 3 prior speeds within a 3 year period. it’s a world of DRAMA, at home and at work, hard to escape sometimes….
